Me + My Boyfriend (Jeans)
So, we've been together for the last 2 years. We did not start off as friends — not in the slightest. I just wasn’t in the right place in my life. Self-esteem was low. You know how it goes.
I'm of course talking about my Zara boyfriend jeans. While the process of loving my body in them has been a bit of a roller coaster, it's all been worth it in the end! They've become a staple in my wardrobe, and now that we're heading into autumn (my fave!), I'm looking for more pairs of this essential fall transition piece.
Like short hair, I’ve always loved boyfriend jeans on women, but I honestly believed I could never rock them. I’d been brainwashed into thinking that only long-legged model-thin women could work the baggy or, at least, more relaxed boyfriend fit. But just like short hair, I realised that if you wear something that feels true to you, and you choose something that fits your body, then you can wear anything.
It still took about a year to feel comfortable wearing boyfriend jeans. Long story short, they're currently an acceptable fit, but there’s still quite a bit of unwanted fabric, particularly in the crotch area. While this pair from Zara will always be my first, I think it’s time I move on. An only "acceptable" fit is no longer good enough. It's time for an upgrade.

An underrated wardrobe staple, boyfriend jeans are the solution to the eternal struggle of running around all day in comfort and style. Throw on those bf jeans — or perhaps the more marketable and less baggy “girlfriend” jean — with a loose fitting top/sweater. Slip on some flats and bam: the perfect outfit to take on your day and conquer that long list of errands. Plans in the evening? Switch into a pair of heels, put on some fab jewelry, and you’re reading for dinner with the girls!
If you’ve been inspired, why not take the plunge, and find your own pair of boyfriend jeans. Below are some pairs I’m currently eyeing. Do any of these stand out to you? I'd love to read your thoughts below in the comments!
